Maky has been nurse for over ten years. She obtained her Bachelors degree in nursing from Nova Southeastern University and her Masters degree from the University of Miami. Her passion and interest has always been in the specialized area of wound and ostomy care which led her to pursue her education in wound and ostomy care management from Emory University.

"My goal is to help and guide ostomates achieve their independence. Undergoing ostomy surgery or managing an abdominal fistula is life-changing and can be very overwhelming at times. Providing support to my patients and their caregivers by empowering them to take back control in that aspect of their lives as much as possible is of the outmost importance. I find it essential to be prepared and educated before undergoing ostomy surgery in order to have a better transition post-surgery and continue the learning and adaptation process. I love what I do and I feel a deep sense of gratitude to my patients for allowing me the opportunity to care for them".
